Samira Knight not only graduated from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School cum laude and at the top of her class in January 2013, she was also able to do it in two years. It is no surprise to us then that she made Las Vegas’ Top 100 Women of Influence in 2015 and landed on the cover of MY VEGAS Magazine!
According to the March 2015 issue, “Samira has persevered through difficulties to become not only the owner and partner of Tarkanian & Knight Law Group, but also an integral part of our community.” The story explains, as a first generation Iranian-American and the first in her family to graduate from college, how fortunate she feels to be in the United States and why her definition of success is in what you do for your community and society.
“I was lucky to be born in the United States. I did not need to fight for the freedoms that I have, my parents fought for me. I could never be the woman I am today if I lived in Iran. I owe everything I have and everything I am to them,” said Samira in the article.
We think Las Vegas is lucky to have her in its corner. She fights for its people and community daily. Samira started a non-profit organization within the growing Iranian-American community. Every week, she teaches a course on personal growth and positive thinking at the Shade Tree, a local shelter for women and children. The course, entitled“Overcomer: Be Positive, Stay Positive,” teaches women self-reliance and a sense of direction and a strong personal foundation.
“I enjoy helping and inspiring people, it’s part of who I am. I believe that my experiences and accomplishments throughout life have given me a unique perspective that I can convey to others who may not otherwise be exposed to positive thinking,” said Samira in the article. “At the end of the day, if I can brighten someone’s day and make those around me better than the day before, then I have reached ultimate success.”
Samira is also finding success and making a positive difference in her career. Attorneys in her community not only recognize her abilities and skills, but her integrity. Patrick Kang, a personal injury lawyer in Las Vegas, says “Samira has quickly shown the depth of her ability as an attorney by fiercely litigating Family Law cases. Without a doubt she is a premier young attorney in Nevada and I would recommend her to anyone, not just in the area of Family Law, but any matter that she chooses to put her mind to!” Family Law attorney Alex Guibaudo agrees. “Samira has a quality few lawyers possess: dedication and passion. No matter the client, Samira is relentless in advocating for her client. I would recomend Samira to anyone looking for a skilled attorney who actually, truly, cares about her client’s cause.”
Samira also excels in the area of Entertainment and Sports Law. You can find her speaking as an expert on this topic regularly. Most recently she was invited to speak at the “International Legal Symposium on the World of Music, Film, Television and Sports,” in South Beach, Florida. She was part of a panel covering the Fundamentals of Advising your Client in the Literary World.
